Second prize at the VHIR Health Innovation Contest

The project "Liver on a chip", participated by the Biomedical Applications Group of the IMB-CNM (CSIC) won the second prize of the second Vall d’Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) Health Innovation Contest in the Biomedical Research Innovation category.

The “Liver on a chip” is a microfluidic camera that simulates hepatic microcirculation which has been designed and manufactured by both research teams. This novel innovation would be useful as a study and diagnostic in vitro tool for cell function, pharmacology, toxicity and personalised medicine. Moreover, it could be applied to all the biomedical research where vascular system is important (liver, kidney, cardiovascular, etc).

The awards ceremony took place at VHIR on Friday 10th July and hosted the presentation of the 20 best projects, out of the 67 projects presented. In addition, the elevator pitch of Jordi Gracia won the best presentation award after being the voted by the attendees via Twitter using the hashtag #concursvhir
