Qilimanjaro, an IMB-CNM Clean Room user company, wins the World's Best Digital Start-up Award at the 4YFN Awards at the Mobile World Congress
Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech is a technology-based company focused on quantum computing with an agreement to develop technologies inside the Micro and Nanofabrication Clean Room of the Institute of Microelectronics of Barcelona - National Microelectronics Center of the Spanish National Research Council.
A company that uses the open access provided by the Micro and Nanofabrication Clean Room of the Institute of Microelectronics of Barcelona (IMB-CNM-CSIC) to the scientific and industrial community, Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech, has been awarded the 4YFN prize for the Best Digital Start-up in the World at the Mobile World Congress (MWC2024) held in Barcelona last March.
Qilimanjaro is a technology-based company from the University of Barcelona (UB), the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC-CNS) and the Institute of High Energy Physics (IFAE) founded in 2019. It is dedicated to developing and commercializing quantum computing applications using quantum superconducting circuit technology for specific use cases and aiming for significant early market advantages. It develops software capable of performing computations at a speed far beyond that of current computers.
The company develops part of its quantum device fabrication in the IMB-CNM Clean Room, thanks to a self-service agreement for open access to its capabilities between Qilimanjaro and D+T Microelectrónica, an Economic Interest Grouping in which CSIC has a majority shareholding.
An open access ICTS
The Micro and Nanofabrication Clean Room, accredited with ISO 9001, is part of the MICRONANOFABS Unique Scientific and Technical Infrastructure (ICTS), recognized by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, and offers open and competitive access to its spaces and equipment to local and international companies and research centers. The Clean Room, equipped with advanced technology, provides the controlled environment necessary for micro and nanoscale manufacturing. It has its own technical staff that can collaborate in the research and development of the proposals received, although duly accredited and trained external personnel can access the facility on a self-service basis.
The IMB-CNM is pleased that Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech has made use of this national research infrastructure with international vocation.
