GTQ renews the ISO 9001:2015 quality certificate for the development of electrochemical and optical sensors

The Chemical Transducers Group received the certificate in 2018 and is the only group within a CSIC centre in Catalonia with the distinction.

The Group of Chemical Transducers, GTQ, deals with the application of analytical systems and microsystems for the measurement of chemical parameters in liquids. Since 2018, it has been recognized by the ISO 9001:2015 quality seal, a mark that has just been renewed for three more years.

The certification recognises that the IMB-CNM group has implemented a Quality Management System in accordance with the ISO 9001 standard in the following areas: carrying out R&D projects for electrochemical and optical sensors; and the management of the production of electrochemical sensors.

"The certification of our quality management system constitutes an important achievement for the group and a seal that guarantees that the sensor devices we develop, and also those we commercialise, are produced complying with standards that satisfy the potential client and in a suitable environment. Thus adapted following the requirements of this international standard, without forgetting to try to improve the development of the aforementioned devices to make them increasingly robust and effective", indicates César Fernández, director and researcher of the group.

Quality management system for research of excellence

GTQ has maintained a Quality Management System since 2009, when it passed the TECNIO seal accreditation process, granted by the Generalitat de Catalunya.

The ISO 9001 mark is awarded by IQNet and is managed by AENOR in Spain. Within the CSIC, the badge is usually obtained by laboratories or specific analytical techniques. In the case of Catalonia, the GTQ research group is the first group to achieve this quality seal.
