From INL to IMB: From nanostructures for light management to single electron devices
In this seminar, I would like to introduce myself and my former institution called International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory (INL) located in Portugal. I am going to present some of the works we have been developing at INL. Their interest relies on the applicability of nanofabrication in order to enhance the efficiency of solar cells. This is an ongoing collaboration and we are still implementing some new ideas. Furthermore, considering the near future, I also would like to present the kind of devices that we are pursuing under the Beatriu de Pinós MSC action. Here, the idea is to develop single charge transistors (as SET or SHoT) based on silicon nanowires with embedded quantum dots.

Jordi Llobet is a Beatriu de Pinós – MSCA researcher of the Barcelona Institute of Microelectronics (IMB-CNM CSIC). His investigation activities are focused in the areas of nanofabrication and characterization for different applications, from fundamental research to higher TRL. He contributed to the development of new methods for the fabrication of silicon nanostructures with high potentiality to build different nanoelectronic devices (NEMS, FETs and SETs). He was awarded in 2016 with the Young Investigator Award from SwissLitho and IBM (Zurich). He has been involved in 12 micro/nanofabrication public competitive founded projects and 8 contracts with industry. He is co-author of 40+ scientific peer-reviewed publications and his works have been presented at 80+ conferences. His is interested in nanofabrication and characterization of novel structures for nanoelectronics and materials science, on biosensing applications and on light trapping architectures to enhance solar absorption.

In this seminar, I will introduce the Communication tasks of the IMB-CNM and the necessity of communicating and disseminating your scientific research to society.
